50 is the “new” 30, and 60 is the new “40″?

Have your heard the media talk about how 50 is the “new” 30, and 60 is the new “40″? Sometimes I like to believe that true. At 52, (OK, just about done being 52), I feel like I can run around, eat and drink like I did at 32. But at 32 I gave birth to my first kid, and I swear there is NO WAY I am interested at labor and delivery at any “new” age.

One of the reasons for this type of hype is that the media is saying what we want to hear. Who wants to hear about being old? I’m still having trouble rolling the words “Middle aged” over my lips. But the reality is-I am 52, I’m not 32. To paraphrase Dr. Seuss, my body is in pretty good shape, for the shape that it’s in. But my nutrient needs are changing, as is my body, and I must be realistic about accepting those changes.

Fact: There is no magic pill…

Fact: There is no magic pill, special food or fat melting workout when it comes to fat loss and achieving the toned and sculpted body you desire.

There is one way to achieve permanent results; follow a complete and integrated fitness program that focuses on a change in body composition (body fat vs. lean muscle) rather than weight. It is lean muscle that plays the key role in any type of fitness program. Whether you’re interested in fat loss or muscle gain, lean muscle requires certain conditions in order to allow a positive change in body composition.

A daily dose of caffeine blocks the disruptive effects of high cholesterol that scientists have linked to Alzheimer’s disease. A study in the open access publication, Journal of Neuroinflammation revealed that caffeine equivalent to just one cup of coffee a day could protect the blood-brain barrier (BBB) from damage that occurred with a high-fat diet.

Quote of The Day

44323.jpg

The person with a fixed goal, a clear picture of his desire, or an ideal always before him, causes it, through repetition, to be buried deeply in his subconscious mind and is thus enabled, thanks to its generative and sustaining power, to realize his goal in a minimum of time and with a minimum of physical effort. Just pursue the thought unceasingly. Step by step you will achieve realization, for all your faculties and powers become directed to that end.

1891-1951, American Author of ‘’The Magic of Believing'’

Movie_0290female_Medicine_Ball_Seated_Extension_On_Ball.jpg Movie_0290female_Medicine_Ball_Seated_Extension_On_Ball3.jpg

Starting Position: Sit on an exercise ball with your feet flat on the floor. Grip a medicine ball behind your head with your elbows close to your ears.

Movement: Exhale as you press the ball above your head until your arms have just a slight bend in them. Inhale as you slowly return your arms back to the starting position. Repeat as required.
